Things I'm Loving: The Love Edition

I wholeheartedly believe that no matter what is happening in your life, there is always something you can be thankful for..no matter how simple it is.

It seemed only fitting to dedicate this week's Loving post to the greatest thing of all: love. We made these cutie pie  monster cards for Mark and gave them to him this morning. Love how we all had a different take on our monsters -

But, actually instead of focusing solely on the classical love between lovers which is what normally happens on Valentines Day, today I want to focus on 2 other loves in my life.

For the love of family

I'm loving that the bonds in our family are strong and that as an extended family these ties have only grown stronger over recent times. In the past year, I have been gifted with a new-found appreciation for the joy extended family brings into my life. Sure, there's probably moments where you think you might quite like to punch each other's lights out or that someone could probably do with a good slap across the face (or is that just in our family - ha ha) but on the whole we love and accept each other, warts and all.

With our combined families spread far and wide between Wellington, Hamilton, Melbourne, England and Wales, the times when are all together in one place are very rare and always treasured. That's why our trip to the UK last year was so special, we were creating a lifetime of memories to last us through the long months and years until the next time it becomes possible for us to be in the same physical space and timezone. And let's face it, life is incredibly uncertain, and if you take for granted there will always be a 'next time' you sure wouldn't appreciate the moments when you're in them.

In two week's time, we have the opportunity to go up to Hamilton to meet our new niece for the first time and spend time with our Melbourne based brother and sister. Once again it's a rare opportunity, to have all the kids on my side of the family together in one place. With my brother partway through police college study in Melbourne, we won't know when we will next see them after this visit so again we will hold on tightly to the precious hours and minutes we spend in each other's company.

For the love of God

And not forgetting that without His love, there would be NO love. His love is in fact the greatest love of all. I love this picture I saw. His selfless love is the world's best Valentine.
I hope on this - Saint Valentines Day you are surrounded by love. Not the candy-store, trite kind of love that only lasts for one day a year, but true, everlasting and unconditional love that lasts for this lifetime and beyond.

Happy Valentines Day.
