WW: A winter sunrise {worth getting up for}

Summer sunrises bathe the room in heat and light

Winter sunrises barely melt the condensation on the window

Summer sunrises blaze light through the curtains at some ungodly hour

Winter sunrises gently reach through the curtains slowly teasing you awake

Summer sunrises are swift and impatient

Winter sunrises long and luxurious

Summer sunrises promise much for the day ahead

Winter sunrises deliver it in just one moment.

Wordless Wednesday: When the light fades

When the light fades

The city slows its pace.
Keeping time with the reflecting, setting sun.

Take the eyes of this tourist.

And one harbour bathed in light.

Take one evening.

Like many others before it.

And many yet to come.

But still...not like any other night.

At least not for me.
 This night was my gift.

And this piece of plastic, glass and metal
I hold lovingly in my hands

When we come together there is magic.
Magic that responds to my touch.

And the light, O this light.

It is different every which way I turn.

So I turn and shoot.
Turn and shoot.

Pirouetting in the growing violet

Until the day is done.

Lyrical & Wordless Sunday: Mid-Winter Christmas

If you're playing along with Lyrical Sunday, go ahead and read the words and the pics.

If you're playing along with Wordless Sunday, just pretend the words are a complete figment of your imagination, cos I hope once you read the poem, you'll forgive me  for being a little wordy! *wink*

In the bitter cold and dark
I need something more to warm my heart

When the days are short and the night is long
I must learn the words to a different song

Listen Oh my heart to the voice inside
The one that says 'embrace' not 'hide'

Fight off this gloom to gather cheer
Enough to surpass these winter years

Cheer allows my heart to soar
Surrounded by tinsel and snowflakes and festivities more

Among dear friends we raise a toast
As we celebrate this day, our Lord the gracious first host

Forget for a time wearisome winter ails
Simply enjoy this moment before resolve can fail

So be brave and true, stand firm O Tree
Allow us to so bejewel thee

Light up, light up, you twinkling lights
And throw your light far into the cold, dark night

{Au Revoir} Autumn

As winter draws ever closer, it's icy fingers are gripping the corners of each day a little tighter still. So let me indulge while I still may, in the memories of warmth and colour when those bright and hazy summer days slipped slowly into autumn's russet tones.

While I still can bear to before the real pain of winter sets in, let me relive the beauty of fleeting autumn moments (captured at Tupare in New Plymouth over Easter).

And let me not dwell in the depths of winter's despair, but instead dream of Summer Again.
Lyrics by The Afters

I'm watching the green give into gold
As summer becomes winter's cold
Gravity begs for one final kiss
She drops it to him, as she gives in

Traces of light, linger around
As laces of white fall to the ground
The softest of sounds for the heaviest things
And the pain that it brings

As she falls I try to catch her
For one last touch of warmth from summer
As one thing leaves to becomes another again
I remember when

Don't remember the day, she started to fade
The ground felt a chill as she gave it away
A whisper - a sigh, for the time that she passed
But this winter won't last

As she falls I try to catch her
For one last touch of warmth from summer
As one thing leaves to becomes another again
I remember when
Oh to be with summer again

The days were warm and we wore them like skin
Now I feel the effects of autumn again

As she falls I try to catch her
For one last touch of warmth from summer
As one thing leaves to becomes another again
I remember when
Oh to be with summer again

I'm watching the green give in to gold
As summer becomes winters cold

Earth: An Entree

Lest we forget
You are only on loan to us
Created by a God with far more in mind

You are a place of unimaginable beauty
But only a poor version
Of what is still to come

You remind us from time to time
In ways we can't ignore
This is temporary
We shouldn't get too comfortable

You rage and roar like a wild animal
Beautiful yet dangerous
And your power
Does not go unnoticed

We seek to fully understand you
And we wonder with the limitations
of our human knowledge
Why the inexplicable still happens

We fail to grasp that you are not here to be understood
You are a precious gift to us
To be enjoyed for this lifetime
But a mere entree to the forever after

Those who live in the knowledge
Of the City of Blinding Lights
Grieve for you
Seeing that which gives us breath and sustains us in this life
So torn apart is utterly heartbreaking
And almost unbearable

But we bear it because of the acceptance
That there are unfathomable mysteries of the universe
Yet to be revealed

Imagine Earth's beauty magnified a thousand times
Imagine an earth with no pain, war or poverty
Imagine more than you could ever imagine

And you're still not even close

You, Earth a sweet first taste
Of the most delicious meal we will ever eat.

But you are just that.

There is more to come.

Wordless Wednesday: The Beginning and The End

I AM.

The Alpha and Omega. The beginning and the end.

I am there when you rise.

And when you lay your head back down in sleep

When the sun rises and when the sun sets.

I am there. The Creator of All.

I know each and every hair on your head.

And every grain of sand upon every shore.

And I created all this for you.

For YOU. Enjoy.

With all my love,

God.

Photos taken during our beach holiday at Raumati apart from the last one - a sunrise this week at home.
