Sad.....but how true?

I heard some pretty good Accountant jokes while attending a Chartered Accountants course on Monday morning. I have quite a few accountant friends who I know will appreciate these:

Joke 1:
A woman goes to the doctors for her diagnosis.
'I'm sorry' says the doctor, 'it's terminal'.
'Isn't there anything I can do?' asks the woman.
'Your best bet would be to marry an accountant' replied the doctor.
'Will that make me live longer?' asks the woman.
'No, but it will feel like it' replies the doctor.

Joke 2:
There are 3 kinds of accountants in this world. The ones who can count, and the ones who can't.

Joke 3:
What's the difference between accountants and lawyers?
Accountants know they are boring.

Now the real moral of the story is that not all accountants are created equal. I think I can safely say we're not all like the accountants described above. I for one, don't enjoy being stereotyped as a boring accountant because I hope I'm anything but!  And that goes for all my fantastic, talented (non-boring) accountant friends (you know who you are!).

But it's still good to be able to poke a bit of fun at ourselves from time to time right?! If nothing else, it keeps us from taking ourselves too seriously and becoming the very kind of accountant we dread....yawn!

I used to work for an accountancy/auditing firm and I too can vouch for the fact that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover! There were a couple of duds but most of them were lovely, bubbly (and very funny) people. Stereotyping, eh? Ah well, I guess it comes with all walks of life whether we like it or not.
