I wholeheartedly believe that no matter what is happening in your life, there is always something you can be thankful for..no matter how simple it is.
There's been a whole bunch of goodness around T'internet lately. These are just a few of my faves:
You cannot rely on beauty to sustain you
....get to the deeper business of being beautiful inside. There is no shade in that beauty. Amen sister. You tell it. Lupita Nyong'o won Best Supporting Actress for her role in 12 Years a Slave a couple of weeks ago, but this speech was delivered a few days before her win. Inspirational.
Try not to cry
The bond between these 2 brothers is more special than most. Conner Long won Sportskid of the Year in 2012 - for doing triathlons with his brother. What's special about that you might ask? Well his 6 year-old brother has cerebal palsy, so he tows his brother on all his races with him. Warning: it's hard not to get tears in your eyes watching this clip
Go on....play!
I love the idea that 'play streets' are being brought back in certain areas of the UK to encourage children to play outdoors and meet other children in inner city areas. To prevent them from merely sitting indoors playing on technology. What a great idea!
It makes you think
I am so grateful after watching this for my own liberty and freedom, that I live in a country that is peaceful and safe. I hope I never take it for granted.
Croc vs snake
I already shared the pictures of this epic snake vs croc battle on Facebook, but it still makes me shake my head in awe and somewhat grossed out wonder that this could even happen! You can see all the amazing pictures of the 5-hour battle and the crocodile gradually disappearing inside the python here.
Space Race
I saw this very cool infographic on BBC showing to scale the distance from Earth to various points in space all the way to the Sun. You have to scroll down to get toall the different distances in Space - I found it fascinating that we are 384,000 km from the moon but 150,000,000 km from the sun. Try it out here - it's pretty cool.
A light show like no other
Tomorrow night we are going to see Power Plant - a world-class light show that is on at the Botanic Gardens. We booked our tickets months ago before there had been much hype about it and we are all thoroughly looking forward to the weird and wonderful experience. No doubt there will be photos to follow!
