Just another Welly weekend

Nothing mind blowing. No major achievements. No massive revelations. No big social calendar. Just us. Doing life together.

Saturday afternoon's doughnut muffin baking session turning into an impromptu birthday party for the monkeys when Noah saw the pictures of the same party last year and wanted a re-enactment. And the littlest guy is getting quite good at singing all the words to 'Happy Birthday' 'Baa baa black sheep' and various other tunes. He just breaks into a rendition now whenever the mood takes him.

Just to clarify it was no-one's birthday this weekend, other than a  pretend birthday for the monkeys.
But we do like to sing it all .the. time.

And on a Sunday in winter when the sun is low in the sky, it really is the perfect angle for sunflare.

Don't you think the sunflare looks like a big thought bubble coming out of Mark's head?! Ha ha.

And bokeh too for that matter.

With the sun at our backs, time might as well stand still while we watch feathered friends. Enjoying a nature lesson from daddy about why some birds swim and others don't.

There's something so very hopeful about a sprinkling of winter flowers amongst naked twigs.

And when winter sun deigns to touch delicate petals, it's...well....simply breathtaking.

With a tornado up the coast overnight still fresh in our minds, Wellington's famous stiff northerly breeze could've easily put us off a quick stop at the park. But it didn't. We're made of tougher stuff.

Until a very close encounter with a bumblebee whilst sliding threatens our resolve. Note the bumblebee almost landing on Noah's hand!

But.....it's amazing how quickly one can forget a 'near' catastrophe when presented with the next fun activity!

Our early morning walk/scooter to the ducks and a play at the park generated a hearty appetite to return home and polish off the rest of the doughnut muffins with our morning coffees/fluffies/milkshakes.

Just another Welly weekend for us. And yet not just another weekend. Every one with its own uniqueness.

Giving us another memory to lovingly wrap up, fold into little squares, and tuck away into the memory jar.

Linking up with the lovely creative Stacey for her very first The Day After Sunday linky.

Looks like a lovely cosy weekend. With all my new southern hemisphere bloggy friends, I'm still getting my head round the fact that although it's summer here, it's winter somewhere else!

I'm amazed too, that you were all the way over here and made it to the Isle of Skye! There is now a bridge over to the island so no need for the wee ferry.

Must try out a batch of those doughnut muffins too. They look amazing!
