Wardrobe Wednesday: Embracing the Stripes

Up until a couple of years ago, I really didn't have much of anything that was stripey in my wardrobe. But I seem to have acquired quite the collection. When I open my wardrobe these days lots of stripey options jump out at me.....so firstly I'm thinking it could be just a phase I'm in...and maybe it is, but right now I'm loving how stripes work on a range of different outfits - tops, skirts and dresses, thin stripes or wide stripes and all giving a totally different effect. I'll show you what I mean....

Skirt: about $15 from Tempt

I love the length of this skirt and the fun, wide pockets. It's a great skirt for summer (with 3/4 tights or without) and it looks good in winter with long tights and boots so it's pretty versatile.

Another cheapy Tempt number - probably about $10 from memory

I love that this top is casual enough for a car journey with jeans or jean shorts when you want to be comfortable but not too hot or cold! Just for a little bit of interest, that picture on the wall is at my gran's house and it's of my great-great-great grandparents on their wedding day! I love that she has things like this around the place. It helps me feel like I know where I've come from! I'm guessing they didn't wear a lot of stripes in their day though unless it was their long johns - ha ha!

About $30 at Supre

This dress was my find of the summer. I wore it on Christmas Day for the first time and have been wearing it heaps ever since. I like it with my stretchy belt and it's cool enough to wear on a pretty warm day and warm enough to wear on a cool day because of the length - if that makes any sense at all?!

My most recent addition is this gorgeous candy-cane top from Max which I got at their end of summer sale down to $30. It's the most delightful feel with the draped neck (I'm sure there's a technical name for this neck but it's escaping me right now!) and it is made of such soft fabric.

I think the only thing I might have to draw the line when it comes to wearing stripes is striped leggings - although maybe you lot can convince me otherwise?!

How about you? Are you a lover or a hater of the stripe?! How many different stripe combos do you have in your wardrobe?

Rockin the stripes! That dress looks so good on you! And the name for the drapped neck is a cowl neck ;-)

Gorgeous lady! I LOVE stripes. Love them. But all my striped items are tops...I should probably branch out a little.
Also? I love that you find such good bargains!

I LOVE stripes too! I work in the marine industry which particularly lends itself to stripey ensembles. I think that top has a 'cowl' neck.

Gorgeous girl! You look beautiful in stripes and very HOT in that dress!

Love that skirt in the first shot - looks so comfy (I must go check out Tempt!) and that red top suits you so well, and looks beautiful with the white skirt.

Gorgeous pics of you at your Grandma's too with the wedding pic in the background (awww!).

Stripes are the best. My favourite items of clothing are nearly always "stripey"!
