Things I'm Loving: Queenstown, this time last year, and Lion King lullabies

I wholeheartedly believe that no matter what is happening in your life, there is always something you can be thankful for..no matter how simple it is.

Queenstown loving
This week's post comes to you while we are away having a wee mini break in Queenstown celebrating our joint birthdays (yesterday), our ten-year wedding anniversary (back in February) AND my parents' ruby (40 year) wedding anniversary which is next month. We had enough airpoints from our trip to the UK to book our flights down. Then we thought it would EXTRA cool to shout Nana and Poppa the trip down for their anniversary present as they honeymooned here 40 years ago. So here we are enjoying the hospitality of the South.

The last time we were in Queenstown
Golly - weren't we young (and I clearly had no fashion sense!)

It's been almost fifteen years TO THE DAY since we were last here - last time it was a campervan trip around the South Island with my family which was Mark's first initiation into the family - boy was he brave looking back putting his hand up for two week close encounter with us lot - ha ha! But he stuck around so it can't have been that bad!

Around the Table
I haven't forgotten that it's a whole year this weekend since that coolest of weekends at Around the Table, our blogger weekend away in Christchurch. I have such wonderful memories of meeting up with some of my favourite people on the planet and actually hugging and hanging out with them in real life was like I'd died and gone to blogger heaven.

Happy sigh. And I hope it happens again one day!

Bet you wished you were on this plane
Last week the cast of the Lion King were on their way to Sydney from Brisbane and everyone got a little more on their plane ride than they bargained for! How awesome.

Only in China
OK so this little guy is quite talented, and it is hard to believe he is only 3. I thought the judges were a little merciless at times, teasing the poor wee soul. He just took it all in his stride though, managing to remain cute and serious all at the same time!

Around the World in Groceries
Loved this article that I saw about how much and what different families from around the world spend on a week's groceries. Makes for a very interesting read. Check it out here.

Feeling the love
This week just as I was busying myself packing for our wee mini break in Queenstown the doorbell rang. Waiting on the step for me was this!

Can I just preface this with the fact I never saw myself as a fantasy genre girl. The closest I'd say I'd get to it is watching Game of Thrones but that's almost believable somehow because it's medieval and human - apart from the dragons I guess! But after seeing so many rave reviews, I figured I'd download and read Daughter of Smoke and Bone, which I did lying in bed within a day. It took me about half the book to decide if I actually liked it, but then I was hooked. As soon as I finished it, I downloaded Days of Blood and Starlight and so in the space of 2 days while lying in my sick bed had read them both. Then when I realised I'd have to wait nearly a month for the 3rd and final chapter to be published, it nearly sent me into even more of a decline. Thankfully the lovely Angela-Noelle told me about the novella Night of Cake and Puppets which I devoured in about an hour and have been twiddling my thumbs ever since waiting for a) the 17th publishing date to roll around or b) the chance to win a copy from her or Faery Sarah's giveaways. So you can just IMAGINE my delight to see that very same lovely lady from Striking Keys post a copy up for lil ol me. Mwah!

Have a super duper weekend everyone, and I hope you find plenty to love in it!
