Every Cloud...

You know the saying I mean?

I've been pondering a little on that silver stuff that's just waiting for us to find it. That hidden gem meant to exist in every spot of trouble.

At the very best, it means not fearing being swallowed up by the storm when those cumulonimbus are all around you, lightning is flashing and thunder is rolling. Instead choosing to laugh in the face of the storm, knowing this means you'll have an opportunity to dance in the rain.

If only it were that easy. More often than not you're wondering if you're actually gonna get struck by the lightning bolts and each clap of thunder is enough to send you scurrying and whimpering for shelter.

But if you were really seeking out the silver stuff...if you were really brave enough to try in the midst of that deluge, you'd be looking for the good. Hard out.

For we know that all things work together for good for those who love God. Romans 8:28

You'd be hoping against hope. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope AND a future. Jeremiah 29:11

And persevering till you find it. Let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Hebrews 12:1

No matter how long it takes.

It might mean saying goodbye to all you thought you knew. And discovering a dream you never knew would be yours to have.

When all that you know comes crashing down and seems truly lost, it is only natural for you to despair, mourn, and rage, questioning why me? And why now?

And the tears flow.

Sorrow abounds.

But eventually you find yourself picking up the pieces of all you knew and ever so feebly, hesitantly starting to live again.

It might be a different life. And not the one you had always imagined.

But you start to allow yourself to live a little, learn a little. Hour by hour, day by day.

And so the days go by.

Then one day, you look around. You dare to let yourself think past the challenge of this immediate hour and day. You let yourself again anticipate what tomorrow will bring, and the next day and the next.

And then it comes.

The dawning. The realisation that in spite of and despite how you got here, this too is a dream worth having. A dream worth living. Still one to give thanks for.

Inexplicably, the tide has turned.

That outgoing tide is slowly returning to shore.  Wave by wave.

And the song upon your heart can begin to sing

Out of these ashes, beauty will rise
And we will dance upon the ruins
We will see Him with our own eyes
Out of these ashes, beauty will rise
And we know that joy is coming
In the morning
In the morning
Lyrics by Steven Curtis Chapman

All photos taken on 2 separate mornings this week from our bedroom window.

Look for it. Your silver lining. No matter how deeply hidden it may seem, it is there. And He can help you find it.

Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5

Be encouraged dear friends.
