Things I'm Loving 15.4.11

♥ David Beckham's Ball Skills

I'm pretty sure there's some trick video editing going on this clip. But you know what? I really don't care. He's still my favourite footballer!

♥ My Page 3 Guy

In the UK there's a trashy newspaper called The Sun. And every day on page 3 is a topless or scantily clad model for men to ogle over. So I've come up with my own, slightly more wholesome version. Check out what's on Page 3 of the latest Hertz corporate newsletter.

Not sure I like the answer to Question 8 though?!

♥ Inspiration for Creativity

I was so inspired after reading 'How to Steal Like an Artist and 9 other things nobody told me', a post shared by Widge last week. Do y'all remember the lyrics of the song by Baz Luhrmann 'Wear Sunscreen?'  After reading it, I felt like I had just heard that song all over again. Here's the lowdown, but you should definitely read the article to get the full gist!

1. Steal like an artist (the concept it's not as bad as it sounds I promise, and I've done my fair share of stealing in my time!)
2. Don't wait until you know who you are to make things
3.Write the book you want to read (I think this goes for 'write the blog you want to read too')
4. Use your hands
5. Side projects and hobbies are important
6. The secret: do good work and then put it where people will see it
7. Geography is no longer our master
8. Be nice (he world is a small town)
9. Be boring (it's the only way to get work done)
10. Creativity is subtraction

♥ The smell of diesel

If you didn't already think it before, then this seals it. I. am. a. nutter. I just love the smell of heavy machinery operating or buses idling. I was reminded of it this week when I had to walk through an alleyway amongst a whole bunch of diggers operating and the overpowering smell of diesel hit me. I was suddenly transported right back to my teens when I used to walk past all the school buses lined up in the Papakura High School driveway every afternoon after school inhaling deeply. I was usually feeling a little woozy by the time I hit the gate mind you!

♥ Morning Morepork ♥

There's not much to love about having to get up before 6am to go for a run three times a week. Sure there's the exercise endorphins which usually kick in afterwards but these colder, darker mornings don't make it an easy choice to roll out of bed at that ungodly hour. But this week there was a little more to love, when one morning as I left the house I was greeted by a morepork sitting on the telephone wire outside making his unmistakable and rather loud 'morepork' call. For those of you who aren't familiar with these gorgeous creatures, the morepork is our mini native owl. The only time you can usually see them is in the nocturnal house at the zoo. So this was a real treat!

♥ Early Easter Egg Hunts

Cos you can never start too early right?!

And that ends what is probably the most random collection of Things I'm Loving yet!

AMAZING! What ever will you guys come up with next?! Loving Mark's holiday plans! Dan and I have often talked of doing that too... one day!

How very awesome to see a Morepork! I hear them occasionally - but have only ever seen one in the zoo.

Have a fabulous weekend!

Okay so now I'm picturing you as the overall diesel clad mechanic and your hubby as a pinny wearing cupcake making cafe owner - match made in heaven!! Maybe he wanted you in the car but that would be inappropriate to say!

Thanks for putting me on to that article about "How to Steal Like An Artist".

So much good advice!! It just goes to show how much "WE" hold ourselves back!

Lovin that owl. And "creativty is subtraction"... what a concept. One I'll ponder a while.

What a cool list of random Loving!
Your love of diesel fumes cracks me up - I'm like that too, except it reminds me of tractors on the farm :)
