Things I'm Loving 5.8.11

A quick post from me this week as work and life have seriously gotten in the way of blogging of late!

Week of celebrations
Might as well make the celebrations last and last, after all, you only turn five once right? Starting with a Happy Last Day at daycare last Friday.

This was followed by our Last Day Before School Adventure on Monday, kicking off with coffee and cake at my favourite cafe, some great laughs at the movies watching Kung Fu Panda 2 and then sushi for lunch. Noah picked out his own sushi pack and I was very dubious that he'd eat the raw salmon and I'd be forced to eat it all but he guzzled it down - what a cultured boy! His daddy doesn't go near the stuff so he's clearly developed mumma's tastebuds on this! He also had his first wasabi experience which had me and Mark in stitches - we are a bit mean!

After lunch we picked up Mylo early before going home to have a quiet family-only celebration opening a few presents and sharing in some yummy cake from Ernesto.

Notes from teacher
Tuesday was the official birthday and first day at school, which went fabulously. As did the next two days. Each night Noah's teacher has left us a wee note in his reading journal to say how his day has been. Yesterday the last line said 'what a star!' Ah, music to this mumma's ears.

This is why!
Despite a gruelling past week which included having to work half of Saturday and last night going back to work after dinner for another 3 hours, despite fighting against a body that continues to fail left, right and centre and undergoing more trips to the physio, more acupuncture, and having my back taped up for 2 days, even despite all this....this afternoon pretty much made up for all that other icky stuff.

When I picked Noah up from school and made the decision to take the boys down to the beach and park at O Bay for an hour, it was just the moment I needed to remind me that this is EXACTLY why I am choosing to work less hours from now on. This extra time in the afternoons giving us the ability to seize a precious spontaneous moment is worth every sacrifice.

Getting in the groove
Tomorrow is *drumroll please* party day. Finally.

It feels like it has been a long time coming, and I can hear you all saying 'about blimin time too' in the background!. So if you didn't already see this awesome video first time round, here's a little clip which will be sure to get you in the Star Wars Party groove.

Can't wait to hear what you're all loving this week! Link on up over at Paisley Jade's.

I most certainly think you'll need a day on your own pampering yourself after all this party preparation and the actual party!

Yay for big boys xxx

Is that a Toy Story 3 lunchbox I spy? We have one as well ;) Love that Noah is making the transition to school so smoothly, and you've been able to spend some special time with your boys at the end of a busy day. Good luck for the party!

Have a great party!
My five year old ONLY like the raw salmon sushi rolls, hates the rest.
And yay for less hours coming your way soon. You'll never look back on your life and wish you had spent more time at the office. The time with kids is so precious.
