Things I'm Loving 14.12.12

I wholeheartedly believe that no matter what is happening in your life, there is always something you can be thankful for..no matter how simple it is.

Reliving carefree days
Loved reliving our youth a weekend or so back when we caught up with our dear friends for a night out at Havana Bar. Although getting home at 12.30am was a bit of a shock to the old system - it's the latest night I've had in a long while, and of course one little munchkin made it his mission to be up at 5am the next morning. Weary was the order of the day that followed that late night out!

Oh and check it out - how cool is this staircase inside Havana Bar? It  definitely called for a photo!

My precious
So I had an enforced and unwanted break from my iPhone after dropping a couple of weeks ago and then it had no sound so it had to go in to get fixed. Big bums! Leonie suggested that I should blog about the experience of how I got on without 24/7 access to all my favourite apps like Google Reader, Facebook, Instagram, and Words with Friends. But to be honest, I was too darn depressed for most of the time it was away.

Trying to survive with a horrible old dinosaur of a a Nokia that was so basic it could just about manage texts and work emails was horrid (1st world problems hey) and I couldn't even figure out how to even find my text and email inbox most of the time. Recurring alarms for the morning, forget it, I had to try and remember to put the alarm on every night. I had almost none of my phone contacts so couldn't text or contact many people unless they sent me a message first and then I had to guess who was contacting me when they did!

To be fair though, I was still able to get access to Facebook, read blogs, check Pinterest and play Words with Friends on my computer, so all was not lost. But the thing I missed desperately the most was Instagram.

And now that I have my precious back again, all is right with the world. I kid - but only just!

Elves
One of the girls in my team found us some $2 elf hats that have a little jingly bell and say 'Finance Department' on them. We have taken to wearing them quite often these past two weeks. And with a new Christmas CD purchased with a great mix of carols and modern Christmas songs, we are rocking Christmas in our little corner of the world on a daily basis!

Speaking of elves...
Elf on the Shelf has still not arrived. Sigh. I'm trying not to be too disappointed. And I'm just hoping and praying the other gift for Mark that I ordered at the same time turns up by next Friday.....eek!

I spoke too soon.....Eddy the Elf arrived on the doorstep midday Friday while I was having a sick day at home with Mylo......and now let the fun begin!

Star Wars Christmas
Also along the Christmas theme... I loved this cool Star Wars-esque Christmas greeting I found on Facebook the other day.

The best mash up of 2012
Loved this amazing mix of the most popular songs of 2012. So worth the 8 minute watch! So clever the way they have mixed all the different songs together and you can see what each one is that's playing both for vocals and instrumental at the bottom left of the screen. Very talented!

Santa in da house
The boys loved their annual expedition to the Christmas shop at Kirkcaldies and Stains last week, and one little boy who last year ran screaming from the spectre of Santa was, this year, chuffed to bits to gain an audience with the big guy. What a difference a year makes!

They also do the coolest interactive window displays outside with puppets on moving strings. This year's theme was Circus Santa - simple but effective.

What are you all loving in your part of the world this week? I can't wait to hear.

Here's how you can join in this week:

I don't think I could cope without my iphone it is my third arm! I have an ancient Nokia for my work phone and it is hilarious how long it takes me to text people on it, so I can relate to that. Love your Santa photos and yay for a night out, even if you did suffer a bit the next day I bet it was worth it :)
