Rosemary McLeod's Craft Series: Bags

I do love a good bag, but they are an interesting conundrum don't you think? Are they more fashion accessory, or functional necessity?

Now with a nice necklace or bracelet there's no question of getting it wrong. They are simply there to make us look elegant and pretty. But the relationship with a bag is far more complicated.

Do you love a bag more for how it looks or what it does for you? A bag can be something as simple as a means to carry your weekly shopping in, or the essentials of motherhood. It's a place to quickly hide the evidence of empty chip packets, snotty tissues, matchbox cars and the little money you have left in your wallet . A place that will just as quickly devour your keys whole until you find yourself embarrassingly having to empty the entire contents just to find your way to your next destination. Yeah that one time a tampon fell out and rolled across the floor for everyone to see........moving on...

Or a bag can be a statement. It can say I'm worth 'this much'. Or I love 'this kind of life'. I'll carefully place my Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses inside their case inside my Louis Vuitton handbag.

Let's face it, most of us live out of the first scenario and not the second. And would we have it any other way? In all honesty probably not - well not for long anyway. We might dream the grass is greener over there, but it rarely is.

Instead what we should be doing is indulging ourselves by making a bag we love.

I'm in dire need of a new peg bag. My current bag is a recyclable New World shopping bag. It's functional, but by no means fantastic. Which is why when I saw this cute laundry bag I thought it's high time I found a way to love my laundry again.

And with 10 other delightful bag projects in this e-book you can guarantee you'll find something functional, fun and fashionable to make within these pages!
